The 23rd Annual International Contemporary Furniture Fair is being held May 14 - 17, 2011 at the Jacob Javits Center in Manhattan, New York City. The Fair is North America’s premier showcase for contemporary design.
During the four days, the Fair hosts more than 23,000 interior designers, architects, retailers, facility managers, wholesalers, store design professionals, hotel and restaurant designers and manufacturers, as well as students and members of the general public.
More than 500 exhibitors display:

- outdoor furniture
- materials for residential and commercial interiors
The Fair welcomes representatives from 26 countries and five continents.

- Federlegno-Arredo (Italy)
- ICEX (Spanish Institute for Foreign Trade)
- Royal Danish Consulate General (Denmark)
The combination of domestic and international exhibitors provides easy access to the best and hippest home and contract products.
An impressive array of programs, exhibits, and events are presenting cutting edge contemporary designs that are must-haves for any space.
And when we say "any space"... One of the highlights is a presentation by journalist Susan Roy, who refers to “propaganda by architecture” as she describes the family fallout shelters of the 1950s.
Europe’s leading design-related e-zine, designboom.com, joins with the ICFF for the designboom Mart, where items are selected for sale in a design bazaar, demonstrating that the analog and digital worlds still interact.
Participating designers show products, network, and sell their design souvenirs. Stock is limited to 100 pieces, maximum, per stall; prices range from $10-$100.
GLM and Bernhardt Design present the sixth annual ICFF Studio, which unites culture and commerce. ICFF Studio is unique in pairing talented, up-and-coming designers and their prototype products with made-to-measure manufacturers.
A one-of-a-kind forum for identifying and supporting the solvers of tomorrow’s design problems today, ICFF Studio celebrates emerging designers and their new projects in an exhibition linking style and substance.

The Areaware collection include pieces by Jonas Damon, David Weeks Studio, Harry Allen, Brendan Ravenhill, Daniel Ballou, and Cordula Kehrer.
The ICFF Studio, sponsored by Bernhardt design, features items by, among others:
- ZzZen lounge chair by Niels de Greef, Fousse Interior Elements, a winner in this year‛s ICFF Studio design competition
- Clamp Chair by Andreas Kowalewski
- Bow Bins, a collection of whimsical waste baskets by German designer Cordula Kehrer. The baskets are produced by the indigenous Aeta people of the Philippines via fair trade NGO Preda.
Several panels and seminars encourage the invention, education, and conversation of 
designers, who never stop learning. They are:
- Materials Matter™ – How to deal with emerging technologies, processes, and materials so as to procure materials responsibly and sustainably as well as profitably.
- Marcel Wanders – The creator of the iconic Knotted Chair, produced for Droog Design in 1996.
- Design Deutschland 2011 – "...contemporary German design is varied and diverse, but with distinctive characteristics: function predicts form, pared to its essence and beautifully, efficiently, and lastingly manufactured."
- Metropolis Conference/Design Entrepreneurs: Local Talent, Global Markets – Discussions of designs and experiences that are sustainable and authentic.
- Living La Vida Loca – Four of Spain’s leading designers discuss the latest wave of new Spanish design.
- Sami Hayek – The environmental designer discusses design’s role as "the medium through which the reinvention of traditional materials and processes occurs."
