Adventures in Travel Expo Treks into New York

The 6th Annual Adventures in Travel Expo (ATE), presented by the New York Post, will be in New York on Saturday and Sunday, October 10-11, 2009, at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center. Attendees can learn to scuba dive, climb a rock wall, zip-line, see cultural performances and book the next vacation at discounted rates right on the show floor.

With the help of more than 350 exhibitors from Mexico to the Philippines to Pocono Mountains, one can plan a far-off adventure or a quick weekend getaway. Experts from destinations, tour companies and resorts are available so that attendees can research and select the perfect vacation. Visitors will find authentic travel experiences ranging from eco-tours, safaris, and volunteer vacations, to cycling, and culinary tours.

Additionally, throughout the expo, the National Geographic Adventure Theater will spotlight presentations by top adventure travel authors, explorers and experts. On Saturday hear from travel expert Arthur Frommer talk about how to travel smart in down economy. On Sunday, Patricia Schultz, author of 1,000 Places to See Before You Die, will highlight top travel choices for 2009-2010.

Fangoria's Trinity Of Terrors With Slipknot Halloween Weekend In Las Vegas

With Fangoria Trinity of Terrors, Fangoria Entertainment celebrates its 30th anniversary as publisher of the world’s best-selling horror magazine and industry leader of all things horror since 1979, with this brand new multi-media horror event. The extravaganza fittingly takes place Halloween weekend, beginning Friday, October 30 through Sunday, November 1, 2009 at the beautiful Palms Casino Resort, home of Las Vegas' premier musical venue, the Pearl Concert Theater.

This event will feature celebrity appearances, as well as signings, screenings, vendors, exhibitors, panel discussions, special FX make-up applications, video gaming, tattooing, collectibles, special VIP parties and much more.

A high point will be the special Halloween night performance by multi-platinum, Grammy Award-winning alternative metal masters, Slipknot, in the Pearl Concert Theater. 

The weekend's guests include: original Fango editor Robert "Uncle Bob" Martin, Roger Corman (Death Race 2000, The Pit And The Pendulum), Malcolm McDowell (A Clockwork Orange, Rob Zombie’s Halloween), George A. Over a dozen new films will be screened, including Joseph Maddrey's critically acclaimed documentary Nightmares in Red, White and Blue: The Evolution of the American Horror Film  and the world premiere of Dark House starring Jeffrey Combs, as well as Ti West’s latest terrifying frightfest, The House of the Devil.

But this isn't your typical convention "panel room viewing"--panels and film screenings  will be presented in the beautiful Brenden Theatres auditoriums, featuring state-of-the-art projection and sound. Brenden has 14 auditoriums at the Palms, equipped with IMAX, 3D and more. They are also the home of the renowned CineVegas Film Festival.

Celebrating its 30th Anniversary, it’s a banner year for Fangoria Entertainment. Advertising Week Concludes With Commercial Screening Party

The official closing event of Advertising Week is Night of the AdEaters. This all-night screening party which celebrates the world’s best commercials, the creative process and the impact of advertising on global cultures will make its New York City debut on Friday, September, 25th, 2009 at Terminal 5 (610 W 56th St.).

AdEaters was started in 1981 by Jean Marie Boursicot, who maintains the world`s largest and most unique archive of television commercials. It is now celebrated annually in over 160 cities in 50 countries throughout the world including Tokyo, Paris, Moscow, Santiago, Mexico City, Hong Kong and Geneva. Night of the AdEaters attracts thousands of attendees that include both industry folks and the general public..

The Night of the AdEaters is hosted exclusively by Findr Interactive, an interactive advertising agency and Gravity Media, a full service media company. Both based in the Chelsea District of New York City. It will be supported by major media companies such as CBS Radio and Outdoor, The Daily News, AMNY and Pulse 87.7 FM. Presenting sponsors include Liberty Reserve and OpenSkies Airlines.

Guests will experience an interactive atmosphere including an OpenSkies airline raffle for a business class trip to Paris to attend the original Night of the Adeaters celebration in November. The New York Anime Festival 2009

The New York Anime Festival (NYAF) and Del Rey Manga will hold a party from 5:30 to 7:30 PM on Thursday, September 24, 2009 at Dave and Buster's (234 West 42nd Street) in NYC's Times Square. Jointly produced by NYAF and Del Rey Manga, this special event--held on the eve of the 2009 New York Anime Festival--is both a celebration of this year's NYAF as well as a celebration of Del Rey Manga's Fifth Anniversary. To mark this special occasion, NYAF and Del Rey Manga invite fans and professionals to partake in food, drink, giveaways, and a cake crafted by Baltimore's famed Charm City Cakes specifically for the NYAF and Del Rey Manga party.
 
Free and open to the public, the NYAF and Del Rey Manga party welcomes NYAF attendees, anime fans, manga readers, industry professionals, and casual New Yorkers interested in the world of Japanese pop culture.
 
The New York Anime Festival takes place September 25-27, 2009 at the Jacob K. Javits Center in Midtown Manhattan and is organized by Reed Exhibitions, the creators of New York Comic Con. The Festival showcases the best of anime pop culture, including the latest anime, manga, Japanese cinema, music, and games, and anime-influenced comics, animation, and films from around the world. This year Yoshiyuki Tomino--whose genre-breaking series, Mobile Suit Gundam, premiered in 1979--and noted voice actress/singer Yui Makino are the Guests of Honor and J-Pop group AKB48 makes its U.S. debut. .

Mobile Suit Gundam is noted for defining the current realistic portrayal of robots in Japanese animation and, through the past 30 years, the series has spawned numerous sequels and spin-offs. Makino is best known for the role of Princess Sakura in the Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle anime and manga franchise.
 
Other highlights at NYAF include FUNimation Entertainment’s presentation of the English language premiere of the Soul Eater, along with a cast appearance; premiere screenings of Gurren Lagann: The Movie – Childhood’s End, Cencoroll, and 20th Century Boys; the Far East to East Showcase (FETES) which, in association with NYAF, will take place at The Studio at Webster Hall, and will provide a night of innovative music that brings together four of the best musical artists from both the Far East and the East Coast; the World Cyber Games USA National Final, where 200 of the best gamers in America will battle it out on nine different gaming titles for one of the coveted thirteen spots on TEAM USA; and a fashion boutique, where Baby, The Stars Shine Bright – Japan’s foremost Lolita fashion brand – will have a presentation in association with Kinokuniya Bookstore.
 
 “Anime culture is enormously popular and we want our show to reflect the full range and diversity of anime talent and creativity at work today,” notes Lance Fensterman, Show Manager for NYAF.  “We are very pleased to be able to provide such quality programming for the thousands of fans who attend our event.”

The Pop Culture Group at Reed Exhibitions owns and operates the New York Comic Con (NYCC), the Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo (C2E2), and the New York Anime Festival (NYAF).  New York Comic Con was launched in 2006 and quickly became a dominant presence in the pop culture world of public events.  In 2009, 452 companies exhibited at NYCC for a total of 84,000 square feet of paid exhibit space, and it has been ranked by Crain's New York Business as the second-largest annual event in NYC.
