Athena Film Fest: Women's Voices from Around the World

A film festival celebrating women from all walks of life, the Athena Film Festival (February 22 - 25) at Barnard College is a revolutionary eye opening film festival. With Academy Award-nominated films, top-tier features, documentaries, and shorts — including U.S. and world premieres, the Athena Film Fest is a global look at the lives of women. The festival is a project of the Athena Center for Leadership Studies at Barnard and Women and Hollywood, a leading voice for women in the entertainment industry.

The opening night film is the Emma Stone/Steve Carell clash of the tennis giants, Battle of the Sexes. Other films include the Dolly Parton, Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin classic 9 to 5, and Chavela a documentary following the unconventional life of beloved performer Chavela Vargas, whose passionate renditions of Mexican popular music and triumphant return to the stage late in life brought her international fame. The festival also includes panels, workshops, and special screenings.
