One Million Celebrate Brazil Day NYC

Under a canopy of blue skies and humidity-free SprIng-like weather, nearly a million people crowded in an area between 5th Avenue to 7th Avenue east to west and from 47th Street to 42nd north to south to celebrate Brazil Independence Day in Manhattan.

Into its 25th year the annual Brazil Day Street Fair and outdoor concert took place in Manhattan on Sunday, September 6th, 2009.

Joining the event on the main stage was such esteemed Brazilian musicians as Carlinhos Brown, Elba Ramalho and Alicone. Tough music filled the air lots of great Brazilian and Latin American food filled the belly.

Of the many summer street fairs, this one--like the Bastille Day celebration--have food, drink, dance, costumes and music authentically tied to the event it is celebrating.
