The Setai Fifth AvenueNew York, NY, March 2011- Jazz aficionados will be delighted at the debut of world-renowned jazz pianist and composer Antonio Ciacca as Artist in Residence at Bar on Fifth at The Setai Fifth Avenue, a Capella managed hotel, beginning April 1, 2011. Ciacca has made quite the name for himself in the jazz arena and abound.  Under the guise of the Antonio Ciacca Quartet, he has released six albums and has contributed as a pianist to countless other records.  After a career chocked full of musical success, it is evident that Ciacca’s passion is immanent. He still takes great pride and joy in serenading listeners in jazz clubs around the city, but it is his extensive experience in the jazz industry that has lead him to great acclaim and a venerable following.

As Artist in Residence at Bar on Fifth, he will be responsible for selecting jazz trios, as well as enjoy the pleasure of performing when he joins his A-list musicians a couple of times a week.  For those looking to plan a special event or holiday party, Ciacca will also be available upon request.  “I am eager to begin this one-of-a-kind relationship with Bar on Fifth,” says Ciacca. “It gives me the opportunity to return to my roots and have a permanent place to perform the music that got me where I am today.”

The Setai’s selection of Ciacca as Artist in Residence seemed only natural. “We want Bar on Fifth to flourish as a top jazz destination in New York, and a collaboration with someone of Antonio’s caliber was the way to make this happen,” says Francois Luiggi, The Setai’s Director of Food and Beverage.   “Not only will Ciacca bring us an ongoing roster of top jazz musicians, ranging from classical to avant garde, he will also take to the stage himself throughout the week.  We are so proud and honored that he is joining our team and look forward to watching the pleasure he will no doubt bring to our bar guests.”

Ciacca has worked with esteemed jazz musicians, such as Steve Grossman, Art Farmer, James Moody, and Wynton Marsalis, who Ciacca testifies “first opened his eyes to jazz at a Bologna Jazz Festival in 1989.” His work with the best in the business has not only garnered him reputable status, but long lasting friendships with those who taught him his trade.

Some of Ciacca’s most notable accomplishments include an appearance at the New York Blue Note, performances at the Rochester and Detroit International Jazz Festivals, a European tour with special guests George Garzone and Joe Locke, the release of his first music book The Music of Antonio Ciacca Vol. 1, a jazz professor at Julliard, and being named Director of Programming for Jazz at Lincoln Center in 2007.
