Romance Writers Conference: "Bright Lights, Big Stories"

Romance Writers of America (RWA) is holding its 31st Annual Conference from June 28 -RWA-Logo July 1, 2011 at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in Times Square, New York City.

The Conference attracts more than 2,100 published and aspiring romance writers, editors, agents, and other industry professionals.

Conference attendees will:

  • enhance their writing and knowledge of the ins and outs of publishing at more than 100 workshops
  • get the inside track at panels and round-tables featuring publishing professionals schedule a one-on-one pitch meeting with an acquiring editor or literary agent
  • attend parties and network with the stars of romance fiction
  • be a part of RWA's "Readers for Life" charity book signing.

This year's Keynote speaker is Madeline Hunter
Ever since her first romance was published in June 2000, Madeline Hunter has published 18 historical romances and one novella, with more than six million of her books in print. Her latest release is Dangerous in Diamonds.rwa-Diamonds-cover

The Awards Luncheon speaker is New York Times best-selling author Sherrilyn Kenyon
Kenyon has claimed the number one spot 12 times in two years. Her current series include: The Dark-Hunters, The League, Lords of Avalon, BAD Agency and the Chronicles of Nick. Since 2004, Kenyon has had 50 novels on the New York Times list, Her latest release, Invincible, just made the No. 1 spot. 

2011 RITA and Golden Heart Awards Ceremony is hosted by Meg Cabot
Cabot’s many series and books for both adults and tweens/teens -- most notably her Princess Diaries series -- have included multiple No. 1 New York Times bestsellers and have sold more than 15 million copies worldwide. Her new series for teens, Abandon, was just released.

The speaker at the Librarians Day Luncheon is Julia Quinn
The best-selling author debuted on the romance novel scene in 1995 with Splendid. Quinn has been profiled in TIME magazine and in 2001 was a double finalist in the RITA contest the same year she made her debut on the New York Times best-seller list. Her third win last year for What Happens in London won her a place in RWA's Hall of Fame.  Her latest, Just Like Heaven, is now out.

"Readers for Life" Literacy Autographing
One of the most popular events at the Conference, more than 500 romance authors participate in this two-hour autographing event. Each year, thousands of dollars are raised and donated to ProLiteracy Worldwide as well as to local literacy organizations.
