Jazz Connect Conference in NYC

Stan Lee (yes, of Marvel Comics, true believers) once said that there are two great American art forms: comic books, and jazz. While there may not be any web-slinging or uncanny super powers, January 8 - 9, 2015 does bring us the Jazz Connect Conference, presented by JazzTimes and the Jazz Forward Coalition at Saint Peter’s Church (619 Lexington Avenue New York, NY 10022). With a plethora of panels and workshops, the Jazz Connect Conference brings Christian McBride of NPR’s Jazz Night in America, along with Somi, Francisco Mea, Randall, Bob Belden, and more speakers and musicians to examine the rich history of jazz.

The theme of the conference is “Strength Through Community” embodying the conference’s wide range of panels and workshops to help educate veteran and amateur musicians alike. Topics explored include political activism, DIY labels, radio programming, and discussions on trends in the music business. The Jazz Connect Conference is two days celebrating and strengthening one of the great American art forms, and a style of music unlike any other.
