Alamo Drafthouse Announces Fantastic Fest Encore

Alamo Draft House will continue its streak of making every northern film nerd jealous, by showing films from the annual Fantastic Fest, over three weekends in November. The Fantastic Fest aspires to bring independent and cult films to a wider audience. Unless you have your finger on the pulse of global independent cinema, you are unlikely to be familiar with most of the films being screened.

Fantastic Fest founder, Tim League, said of the festival, “We wanted to bring the excitement of Fantastic Fest to other cities around the country. Genre film fans will get a sneak peak at this year’s hands-down craziest and wickedly enjoyable movies.”

Among these “wickedly enjoyable” films is Alex Van Warmerdam’s Borgman, Netherlands entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the Academy Awards and Sion Sono’s Why Don’t You Play in Hell, the bloody new Yakuza film from Japan.

Also showing are Navot Papushado and Aahron Keshales’s Big Bad Wolves, E.L Katz’s Cheap Thrills, Jeong Byeong Gil’s Confession of Murder, Ari Folman’s The Congress, Eugenio Mira’s Grand Piano, Stephen Chow and Chi-Kin Kwok’s Journey to the West: Conquering the Demons For a complete film list, as well as precise times, locations, and synopsis, visit drafthouse.com/packages/fantastic-fest-2013-tour.
