The Inaugural Palo Alto International Film Festival (PAIFF) is taking place September 29 - October 2, 2011 at the Aquarius, Palo Alto Square and the Palo Alto Children's Theatre in Palo Alto, California.
The Palo Alto International Film Festival is a program of the Palo Alto Institute, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit creativity lab, dedicated to the pursuit and promotion of unconventional truths through research, education and entertainment.
This new Festival is intended to build a local and international community that focuses as much on behind-the-scenes professionals as it does on stars of the film world.
The seventh edition of Fantastic Fest is happening September 22 - 29, 2011 at the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema in Austin, Texas.
Fantastic Fest is the largest genre film festival in the U.S., specializing in horror, fantasy, sci-fi, action and "just plain fantastic" movies from all around the world. All that plus events and contests make it one of the most unique festival-going experiences in the world.
"The Alamo Drafthouse was named the best cinema in America by Entertainment Weekly and features food and drink served to your seat without any disruption of the movie experience."
The Woodstock Film Festival (WFF) runs September 21 - 25, 2011 at the Woodstock Playhouse, Rosendale Theater and Bearsville Theater in Woodstock, and Upstate Films in Rhinebeck, plus other locations surrounding Woodstock, New York.
The Opening Night film is Peace, Love & Misunderstanding, directed by Bruce Beresford, starring Catherine Keener and Jane Fonda. A conservative lawyer takes her two teenage children to meet their estranged, hippie grandmother (who happens to live in Woodstock).
The Spotlight film is Another Happy Day, directed by Sam Levinson, starring Ellen Barkin, Ellen Burstyn, George Kennedy, Kate Bosworth and Ezra Miller. An uptight mother threatens to come unglued at a family wedding.
Ellen Barkin will be the recipient of the WFF Excellence in Acting Award during the Maverick Awards Gala.
The 9th Annual Global Peace Film Festival (GPFF) 2011 takes place September 20 - 25, 2011 at Plaza Cinema Café, Orlando Science Center in Orlando, and Rollins College in Winter Park, and other venues in and around Orlando, Florida.
With international films ranging from the human condition to sustainability and the environment, the Festival goes beyond anti-war, activist, or ideology statements to "suggest a more personal message as reflected in the daily lives of individuals and communities the world over."
The Festival kicks off with the Opening Night outdoor screening of Fire in Babylon, directed by Stevan Riley. The film tells the story of how the West Indies triumphed over its colonial masters through the achievements of one of the most gifted cricket teams in sporting history.
