The 5th annual Japan Cuts 2011: The New York Festival of Contemporary Japanese Cinema runs July 7 - 22, 2011 at Japan Society in Manhattan, New York City.
The World’s Largest Contemporary Japanese Film Festival displays the "diversity and vitality of one of the most exciting world cinemas, and ranging from refined, high-concept art house titles to popular and grindhouse genre movies." Ten of the films are co-presented with the New York Asian Film Festival (NYAFF), and all but one of the festival‛s films are US premieres.
Japan Society’s chief film programmer and curator of the 2011 festival, Samuel Jamier, notes: "In light of the tragic events following the March 11 earthquake in Japan, this fifth edition of Japan Cuts shows the resilience and vibrancy of one of the longest-standing film industries.
Working with New York based non-profit festival producer Rooftop Films, EPIX is partnering with several local organizations to offer free outdoor movie screenings to more communities throughout the City, adding more and bigger movies.
The multiplatform premium service available on television, online and on mobile devices is expands to this new set of screens this summer, 2011, at outdoor venues throughout NYC including Manhattan, Queens and Brooklyn under the banner of EPIX Free-forAll.
Over 30 new release and classic films will be screened at the four venues, beginning June 30 and running through September 12, 2011.

The Galway Film Fleadh returns for its 23rd year to continue its goal of bringing together audiences and filmmakers in an intimate environment to share the wonder of cinema. The Fleadh’s diverse audience includes the general cinema going public, film buffs, student filmmakers, industry professionals and invited guests.
A Cinemobile, a state-of-the-art 100-seat mobile theater, is also presenting Fleadh films at various locations in the County.
Subway Cinema presents the 2011 New York Asian Film Festival from July 1 - 14, 2011 at Film Society of Lincoln Center's Walter Reade Theater and Japan Society in Manhattan, New York City.
Presented in partnership with The Film Society of Lincoln Center, with programming support from Japan Society's Japan Cuts: Festival of Contemporary Japanese Cinema, the popular film festival will showcase 46 films (45 feature length and 1 short film) from Australia, China, Hong Kong, Japan, Malaysia, The Philippines, South Korea, Taiwan and Thailand.
