The 31st Valencia International Film Festival (Mostra de Valencia) begins this Friday and runs for over a week, from October 15-23, 2010. This city on the coast of the Spanish Mediterranean is home to a host of arts centers and museums, constructed over the last 20 years in a concerted effort to widen its worldwide appeal.
This year, the festival highlights action and adventure films, and among the special events is a tribute to Wolfgang Peterson whose films screening in this retrospective are:

The Festival, formerly called the Middle East International Film Festival, lists its name change among several innovations accelerating its push to become a mecca of discovery and pulse-taking for current Arab cinema.
Arriving two weeks before Mexico’s Day of the Dead, the Morelia International Film Festival (October 16 to 24, 2010) is well positioned to take the pulse of the Mexican film industry. Perhaps more than any time in its eight-year history, FICM 2010 offers proof that the domestic cinema is alive and well, even resurrecting its Golden Age of Cinema. This year the country produced 80 films.
