Since the inception of social media, one of the trickiest issues around it has been how to profit from it. Zynga ripped off EA games and suckered people into buying Farmville, but that’s just one small story.
The Pivot Conference (October 15 – 16, 2012) at the Crowne Plaza Times Square Manhattan (1605 Broadway) seeks figure out how to not only use social media as a way to count your likes and followers, but how to integrate social media into every aspect of business. So basically, if social media didn’t work for your company already, use MORE social media!
The philosophy behind the Pivot Conference is that we don’t simply live with Social Media anymore. It has now grown to the point where it’s a “Social Construct,” an unseen zeitgeist that controls the ebb and flow of media and information, and learning how to control that “Social Construct” is necessary “in order to achieve and ensure future brand success,” according to the conference’s mission statement.
Panel discussions at Pivot include:
Pivot brings together CEO’s, heads of marketing, PR and social media from companies like Sephora, Citibank, Get Satisfaction, Ford, The Coca-Cola Company, Adam Duritz from the Counting Crows (really!) and many more.
The applications of social media are altering every day. What could be the advances of today can look tomorrow like the CB radio of the 2000’s. Though this Social Construct is unpredictable and unwieldy, Pivot assembles some great minds to try and make sense of it all.
