She’s Geeky Tech Unconference

She’s Geeky’s 5th unconference, the third in the Bay Area, is being held at the Computer History Museum in Mountain View, California, from January 29 through 31, 2010.

“An unconference is a facilitated participant-driven face-to-face conference around a theme or purpose,” according to Kaliya Hamlin of Unconference.net.

This event is for:

* Women working in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematic Fields.

• Women students of the sciences, those training to be engineers, aspiring mathematicians and technology professions.

• Women who are kernel hackers and all those who aspire to deepen their geekiness by learning how to code the php on their blogs.

• Women into their gadgets.

• Women who are SciFi fans.

• Women who are retired and used to work in tech related fields.

The agenda is created by all participants live each day. Everyone meets and posts topics they would like to present or see. Through a highly participative process, the attendees create a full day, multi-track conference agenda that is relevant and inspiring to everyone. This creates a rich assortment of agenda items and makes for an exciting day of learning.

Sessions can be a presentation, inquiry about a question or discussion about an issue or technical field.  One participant volunteers to record the proceedings. The notes from each session are collected in the newsroom, then a book is compiled with all the notes from the conference and distributed to everyone who attended.

    * The future of voice development on the web and the Voice 3.0 emerging tech
    * Lessons learned on starting a business
    * Linux, command-line, GIMP, programming
    * Women entrepreneurs of Silicon Valley: creating an ongoing dialog 2010: a year for meaningful dialog on social networks
    * The Digital Game Museum, a startup dedicated to preserving the artifacts and ephemera of digital games.
    * Genomics, future of intelligence, organize session for marketing experts to evaluate websites of attendees on-demand

    * The challenges of introducing a disruptive technology to a regulated, conservative and emotion-driven industry.
