For several years now we have been in what some would consider a “golden age” for television, with many long form shows on the air, and more daring material emerging on streaming services like Netflix. Celebrating both great works in scripted shows and the future to come with more independent and DIY style creators, the inaugural Split Screen Festival (June 2 - 8, 2017) brings together a plethora of guests, screenings and premieres. Held at the IFC Center (323 6th Ave, New York, NY), the festival is curated by one of television's biggest fans, author and critic Matt Zoller Seitz, and is split into four categories:
