On June 8, 2012, the Asia Society (725 Park Ave, NYC), in conjunction with Mar Creation, Inc. will be presenting the New York Japan Cinefest: Short Film Program. Seven award winning shorts from some of Japan’s newest directors will be presenting shorts spanning animation, drama, historical fiction, and documentary story telling. A
fter the screening there will be a reception sponsored by Asashi Beer. The films being presented are:
- Radius Squared Times Heart

Love is in the air when Ken, a Japanese scientist, invites Michelle, an American anthropologist, home for dinner after a Tango lesson. Shy in demeanor, Ken impresses with his culinary prowess. Will he be able to win the lady’s heart?
- Uguisu

A Brooklyn diner waitress comes across two mysterious customers: a distressed young artist who struggles with a drawing of an uguisu, a Japanese songbird, and an enigmatic Japanese old man who seems to hold the key to the secrets of the universe.

- Together: Dancing with Spinner Dolphins

In the deep blue waters of the Pacific Ocean, a human dancer and wild spinner dolphins forge a tender relationship through the language of dance.
Equal parts pathos and humor, these shorts offer a great look into the future of Japanese cinema.
