The 2013 Napa Valley Film Festival (NVFF) has announced it’s festival lineup along with its special tributes, guests, events, and awards, promising to be a good time to catch some interesting upcoming films, shorter works, and bask in the wonder of it all over some of the best wines that California has to offer. Running from November 13th - 17th, the festival spotlights 125 new independent films with celebrity guests and lush events each day and night of the festival. Luncheons, panels, and interactive exhibits will take over over Napa for the festival alongside culinary demonstrations and wine tastings, making this a good opportunity to see independent film while enjoying Napa’s architecture, culinary delights, and exquisitely crafted wine-pairings.
Some of the more high-profile screenings include a sneak preview of Nebraska, Alexander Payne’s new film starring Bruce Dern and Will Forte and red carpet screenings of the much-talked about John Wells film August: Osage Country starring Meryl Streep and Julia Roberts, along with screenings of Saving Mr. Banks, directed by festival honoree John Lee Hancock, and Philomena, starring Dame Judi Dench and Steve Coogan. Other films shown range from narrative to documentary features and follow topics such as wine, music and the arts, the environment, and other more personal artistic shorts. The screenings and accompanying lounge events, celebrity attendees, honorary ceremonies, and parties promise to keep festival-goers on their toes with red carpet hopping and more special events than any one person could attend. No matter what type of film you came to the NVFF to see, the bevy of films offered make it hard to go away empty handed.
Full of VIP events, luscious galas, and directors and stars in attendance, the festival’s focal points are the wines and the 2013 NVFF’s honoree ceremonies, hosted by Access Hollywood’s Billy Bush. Recipients include the spotlighted director John Lee Hancock (The Alamo, The Rookie, My Dog Skip) whose film The Blind Side gave Sandra Bullock her first Oscar, along with rising stars Dianna Agron (Glee, I Am Number Four) and Miles Teller (Rabbit Hole, Footloose, The Spectacular Now). Panels, luncheons, dinner parties, and more take place all over beautiful Napa and neighboring towns of Yountville, St. Helena, and Calistoga and occur in venues like the Napa Valley Opera House, the Napa Valley Performing Arts Center, the Yountville Community Centre Theater, and Napa’s Oxbow district, making it a wonderful chance to explore the wine-making capital of California while you’re in the neighborhood.
