Hands on E3: The Gunstringer

The Gunstringer for the Microsoft Kinect created by Twisted Pixel showePlaying The Gunstringer at E3d their game off at the Microsoft booth at this year’s E3 convention.  We were able to play the demo on the convention floor and first impressions were good.  The Gunstringer is the first Kinect game to have "sitting support" which means the player is able to be seated during gameplay even though it’s a Kinect game.

After playing the game at this year’s E3, I can safely say that The Gunstringer is enjoyable to play and the controls are spot on.  With the use of your hands you control your marionette protagonist on screen leading him through an old western themed stage with ease. Aiming is done with the right hand while left and right controls are done with the left.  Shooting was executed with your right hand pointing at targets.  Shoot down your enemies by quickly jerking your arm back in gun recoil.

The artistic representation of the game was very creative.  The motif of the game, being a puppet show, was highlighted further with audience members clapping for you after every mission.  Even the enemies had strings attached to them with enemy movements reflecting that fact.

The combat was easy to learn during the play through, but quickly ramped up to a difficulty any gamer would enjoy.  This family friendly title is perfect for everyone especially now that you can sit down in front of the Kinect and still be able to play.

The Gunstringer will be out this year only for Kinect
