Now in its 57th year, the Winter Antiques Show is being held from January 21 - 30, 2011 at the Park Avenue Armory, 67th Street and Park Avenue, New York City. America’s most prestigious antiques show features the “best of the best” from antiquities through the 1960s, with more than 70 renowned experts in both domestic and international fine and decorative arts.

Each year the Show is held in the very rooms where no less than Louis Comfort Tiffany, Stanford White and the Herter Brothers decorated in "cutting edge" interior design over a century ago.

This year’s Loan Exhibition is Grandeur Preserved: Masterworks Presented by Historic Charleston Foundation. This unprecedented collaboration among Charleston’s leading cultural institutions and private collections include more than 50 items. The Exhibition is designed by Jeff Daly, formerly senior design advisor to the director at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, and now head of his own design firm.

The Historic Charleston Foundation was “established in 1947 as an educational non-profit dedicated to the preservation of buildings, landscapes and cultural resources in Charleston and its historic surroundings.”

Along with objects from The Foundation’s two museum houses -- the Nathaniel Russell House and the Aiken-Rhett House -- several items on loan from The Charleston Museum, Drayton Hall, Gibbes Museum of Art/Carolina Art Association, and Middleton Place Foundation are included. Many of these are on view for the first time, along with a five-part lecture series.

Another landmark exhibition for this year’s Show is the debut of Designing with Antiques, presented by three of the country’s top designers:

• Philip Gorrivan
• Harry Heissmann

Each designer has combined select items from Winter Antiques Show exhibitors with pieces from their own collections to create three distinct and surprising installations, “featuring an eclectic mix of antique furniture, decorative arts and modern pieces.”

The popular Young Collectors Night is being held Thursday, January 27th.

All net proceeds from the Show benefit East Side House Settlement and its new initiative, the Winter Antiques Show Education Fund.

About the Winter Antiques Show
The Winter Antiques Show was established in 1955 by East Side House Settlement, a social services institution located in the South Bronx. The 2011 Show Chairman is Arie L. Kopelman, and Vice Chairs are Lucinda Ballard and Michael Lynch. The Loan Exhibition is sponsored by Chubb Personal Insurance for its 15th consecutive year. About the Winter Antiques Show Education Fund
For more than 50 years, the Winter Antiques Show has provided crucial financial support for East Side House Settlement, which offers a variety of social services and educational programs to those living in the Mott Haven section of the South Bronx, one of the poorest congressional districts in America. Recognizing that education is the key to opportunity, East Side House-in partnership with New York City’s Department of Education-founded two new schools in the community: Mott Haven Village Preparatory High School and Bronx Haven High School. The Winter Antiques Show Education Fund was established to provide college readiness and other programs for these students as they strive to obtain a high school diploma and college education. The schools’ initial enrollment of 70 will soon reach 700 students, with impressive graduation and college acceptance rates.

About East Side House Settlement
East Side House Settlement was founded in 1891 to help immigrants and lower income families on the East Side of Manhattan.
