Over 10,000 people traveled to the largest island of The Bahamas recently for the much anticipated Land Crab Fest. Bahamians from all across the archipelago and visitors from China, Greece, Belgium, England and the United States called on Central Andros for what officials say is the most exciting culinary experience in The Bahamas and perhaps the entire Caribbean.
Over 17 years ago, the Central Andros community looked for an economic boost. Through their efforts, the local government partnered with the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism to create this cultural-heritage festival. The event started with two to three vendors serving a few crab dishes to what has now become the largest cultural-heritage festival of The Bahamas.
Crab catchers, the best chefs and various vendors from North, South and Central Andros (including other islands of The Bahamas) entice festival attendees to taste their delectable crab creations that make up a huge assortment of unique dishes including:
There were 12 hours of non-stop Bahamian music, including Elon Moxey as the Androsian headliner.

The crowd danced the night away to sweet sounds of rake n’ scrape and Junkanoo music from the Valley Boys Junkanoo Showtime Group as well.
