TEFAF New York: Art & History at the Armory


With everything from ancient artifacts to gilded age finery, the New York TEFAF (The European Fine Art Fair),  runs from October 27 to the 31st (though VIP ticket holders can get in October 26) at the Park Avenue Armory, overflowing with art vendors, panels, and special exhibitions.

This year, the TEFAF hosts 93 exhibitors from around the world including Michele Beiny, Blumka Gallery, Siegelson, Vanderven Oriental Art, Tomasso Brothers, and more.

There is also a wide array of panes for those of you looking to learn and not just buy. Style Renaissance: The Rise of Old Master Dress in Current Fashion, examines how designers like Louis Vuitton and Gucci are finding inspiration from 18th century fashion and how old masters effect new styles. Old Wine in New Bottles: How to Look at Indian Modern Art hilights at post-Colonialism Indian modern art movement and its spread across Asia. Men and Jewelry: Does an Earring Have Gender? is a panel in conjunction with the Met’s current Jewelry: The Body Transformed exhibition and seeks to examine the role jewelry has played in men’s fashion over the centuries and dispel gender norms.

Outsider Art Fair Paris: The World Beyond Conventional


Preserving the works of artists from outside the conventional world, the Outsider Art Fair Paris (October 18 - 21, 2018), features the work of self-taught art, art brut and outsider art. Now in it’s 6th edition, the fair is located at Atelier Richelieu, in the 2nd Arrondissement, near the Grand Palais

The fair will showcase 37 exhibitors representing 18 cities from 10 countries, with 8 first-time galleries. New exhibitors to the fair for 2018 include: Artpool Projects' presentation of Ghanaian artist Kwame Akoto; Copenhagen Outsider Art Gallery, which will debut work from a selection of Danish ateliers; Galerie Atelier Herenplaats (Rotterdam); Galerie LJ (Paris); Gliacrobati (Turin); Le Moineau Écarlate (Paris); Morrelandmore (Paris), which will exhibit ceramic sculptures by French actress and artist Florence Thomassin; and Tak Gallery (Poznań, Poland), the first Polish gallery dedicated to promoting Polish art brut.

Additional highlights include Rizomi's (Parma, Italy) presentation of Egidio Cuniberti's monumental figurative sculptures constructed of popsicle sticks, and Galerie Pol Lemétais (St. Sever du Moustier, France) and Galerie JP Ritsch-Fisch's (Strasbourg, France) presentation of A.C.M.'s sculptures, created from old electronic parts, resembling cathedrals, shops and labyrinths. For the first time, Atsuko Barouh (Tokyo, Japan) will bring a collection of Boro - a class of traditional textiles that have been mended or patched together.

The fair will also have panel discussions and jury award.

NYCxDESIGN: A Week of the Arts in Practice

 

NYCxDESIGN is New York City’s annual celebration of design taking place May 11–23, 2018. The event celebrates a world of design and showcases over a dozen design disciplines through events taking place across the city’s five boroughs.

NYCxDesign features events based around architecture, education, tech, graphic design, film/TV, theatre, interior design, and much more. Events and exhibitions will be happening at the Museum of Art and Design (2 Columbus Circle), the SVA Theatre (333 W 23rd St.), and the New York School of Interior Design Gallery (161 East 69th Street), with events including art exhibitions, workshops, lectures, fashion shows, panels, and more!

A World of Dealers at the ADAA Art Show

 

Assembling the top galleries from New York and America, the ADAA Art Show at the Park Avenue Armory (643 Park Ave, New York, NY 10065) from February 28 to March 4th. The show opens with a keynote speech from Christiane Fischer (President and CEO, AXA Art Americas Corporation) entitled The Value of "Dead" Art: Afterlives of Damaged Works." Also a performance by artist Wang Dongling.
