Modern and contemporary art and design comes to the Park Avenue Armory (643 Park Ave, NY, NY) with the return of TEFAF New York’s spring edition. Running May 3 to 7, TEFAF New York Spring features dealers from around the world and exhibits museum quality work.

Panels at the fair include Becoming Vincent All Over Again, a look at some recently unearthed paintings confirmed to be Van Gogh originals. A discussion between Tristram Hunt (Director, Victoria and Albert Museum, London) and Thomas Marks (Editor, Apollo magazine) on the evolution of the prestigious V&A Museum. Toward a Feminist Interior examines the relationship of feminism to interior design through the lens of history, theory, and practice, and explores the ways that design is being used to create powerful and inspiring environments for women by women. Art and Political Action: Art's Strongest Calls is a discussion between artist Seth Cameron and art critic Christian Viveros-Fauné (author of Social Forms: A Short History of Political Art) on the intertwining of art and politics.

Spring Affordable Art Fair: A World of Art at Affordable Prices

Showcasing original contemporary work from hundreds of contemporary artists, the New York Spring Affordable Art Fair (March 28 - 31) at the Metropolitan Pavilion (125 West 18th Street), has art for the frugal collector. With works ranging from $100 to $10,000, there’s a little something for everyone.

The Young Talent Exhibition is a dedicated platform that supports emerging artists and curators within the contemporary art community, and this year’s show will feature New York-based artist, Mónica Hernández, who will showcase her thought-provoking oil-on-canvas works featuring the female figure and the power of the female gaze in the fair’s Inspiration Lounge. While browsing for prints, paintings, and sculptures, there’s also hands-on-workshops, kids activities and personal shopping experiences.
