Big Apple Comic Con — NYC’s original comic con — is now in its 29th year, and has announced its 5th Annual Holiday Con, a party loaded with gifts, prizes, and special events to celebrate the holiday season. It’s NYC’s all season love affair with the world of comics, pop culture collectibles and its fans.

At this event is a rare appearance of long time comic innovator Jim Steranko who has been working on Volume 3 of his History of Comics. He has consented, one more time, to bethespecial guest of this Saturday.

Another spotlighted guest is “Spy vs. Spy” magician Peter Kuper who as a new book out, “Wish We Weren’t Here,” and he will have copies to sign at the show.

Then there is a new book by R. Crumb that was coming out in October. there should be copies at the show as well. 

There is also a super VIP package available that includes all six original Frank Miller “Ronin” books, “Second Wednesday” book by J.C. Vaughn (he will sign them at the show), and the Chirps book by Lawrence Lieber (Yes, Stan’s Bro) who will sign them at the show.

The Bullseye Action Portfolio: five lithograph prints by comic legends Joe Simon and Jack Kirby, featuring their Western hero Bullseye will also be available at the event.

Also on hand will be Coffin Comics’ Brian Pulido, Eisner Award winner Dave Dorman,, spectacular art sensation (Wolverine, Hyperion, 1872) Nik Virella, innovative artist for Marvel and DC (Wolverine, Electra, X-Men) Sean Chen, Alpha Girl Comics creator/author Amy Chu, Marvel Bullpen’s hottest young artist (Venom War, Doom’s Division, Iron Man) Creees Lee among the many joining the fans at this con.

And author, and Marvel Comics editor Danny Fingerorth (Biogrpahies of Stan Lee, and Superman) will be on hand signing his books.

There are also special offers, early admission and a great tote bag by our partner Landry Pop Auctions. This show usually sells out so get tickets ASAP to have a splendid time.

The BACC Holiday Con features over 100 exhibitors, artists, guests, and cosplayers, with a special focus on dozens of talented up and coming artists from the NYC area.

The all-star guest line up includes:

  • Independent animation king Bill Plympton (Cannes Festival winner, 2X Oscar nominated, Best Film and Best Director LA animation festival 2023). He’s done dozens of Simpsons Couch Gags too
  • Eisner Award winner, visionary artist Alitha Martinez (World of Wakanda, X-Men, Moon Girl, Black Panther).
  • Legendary Marvel creator one of the greatest Bronze Age artists Al Milgrom (Avengers, Spiderman, West Coast Avengers, Secret Wars II)
  • Eisner award winner, DC, Marvel, Dark Horse, Image, super artist Adriana Melo (Star Wars, Ms. Marvel, Birds of Prey, Doctor Who).
  • Bill Tucci Inkpot and Eisner Award winner, creator of the phenomenal saga Shi (also Sgt Rock. A Child is Born)
  • Ryan Dunlavey highly awarded artist/author is the philosopher and historian is the conscience of comics alternately hilarious and profound (Action Philosophers, Modok Reign Delay, My Bullshit)
  • Fan-favorite writer of hundreds of books Ron Marz (Green Lantern, Silver Surfer, Witchblade) brings his universe-spanning stories to BACC.
  • Kristen Gudsnuk writer/artist of the groundbreaking Henchgirl and the hit series Making Friends
  • Topps sport cards master illustrator Brian Kong (Walking Dead, Star Wars, MLB, NFL)
  • The one and only Star Wars GREDO character Paul Blake
  • The “Funny Bunny” Julie McCullough (Golden Girls, Drew Carey Show, Growning Pains)
  • Very Special Guest with Crash Media Partners will be Al Kahn, the man who brought the multi-billion-dollar Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh! Japanese anime franchises to the world outside of Japan.

Also we are presenting the illusive mythical irreverent indie comics god R.Crumb’s first published work in 23 years,
“Tales of Paranoia” hot off the press (all VIP tickets get a free one).

Of course, there will be the NYC Cosplay Contest (ready for some real kitch?).

As usual, this show will be in the fabulous Art Deco masterpiece New Yorker Hotel (481 8th Ave @34th St). Maybe Santa will show early this year.

The BACC is a collectible dreamworld event, a national hub for collectors and traders, with some of the greatest collectible books are exhibited, and traded.
