BookExpo America 2011 (BEA) convenes May 23 - 26, 2011 at Jacob Javits Convention Center in Manhattan, New York City. As before, BEA is running concurrently with New York Book Week, which is May 23 - 27, 2011.
Long considered the hub of literature in the United States, New York City again hosts the ultimate gathering of all things literary from hot-off-the-press new releases all the way to remainders and more.
And as never before, this year‛s BEA "embraces all things digital".
BEA is partnering with leading innovators and educators in the digital publishing/book distribution arena. BEA’s partnership with the International Digital Publishing Forum (IDPF) includes the IDPF Digital Zone.
IDPF will once again hold its successful Digital Book Conference, which draws global leaders in the publishing industry, technologists, marketers, retailers, supply chain management, publishers, agents, and authors. The Digital Book Conference takes place on Monday, May 23rd and Tuesday, May 24th.
Publishers Launch Conferences, a partnership between Michael Cader and Mike Shatzkin, will debut at BookExpo America with a day long conference about digital change aimed at international visitors and the Americans who are doing business with them.
BEA’s own conference program is even more heavily focused on digital matters, with key panels on the latest intelligence, social media, emerging publishing models and enhanced e-books.
Other digital activity and diversification at BEA include:
BEA boasts the largest author autographing program in the US. Nearly 800 authors will be in attendance to autograph, including:
and so many more.
Signature Events is a new event this year that highlights a few selected major authors, combining a high profile speaking opportunity with an official autographing session. Authors have the chance to speak as well as interact, both formally and informally, with a large audience of booksellers, media and fans. This year, the authors with their new books are:
Editors Buzz Forums
Described in BEA’s Event Program as BEA’s "original and ultimate taste-making events," the Buzz Forums are the most notable and significant venues at BEA for launching new books and creating awareness for titles which might not be included in other high profile BEA programming such as the Author Breakfasts.
Global Market Forum: Italy
This year‛s global spotlight is on Publishing in Italy. With conference sessions, exhibits and off-site culture events, the program is produced with the support of the Italian Trade Commission and the Associazione Italiana Editori.
BEA Big Idea Conferences include:
Attendees can also visit BlogWorld & New Media Expo, which are co-located at Javits, and access to the exhibit hall is FREE with one‛s BEA badge.
