From June 5th – 7th, 2012, at the Jacob Javits Center, the Book Expo America (BEA) brings New York’s largest celebration of the books and publishing industry. This year’s exhibit hall includes over 1300 exhibitors, 200 of which are new.  Also over 600 authors will also be on hand signing autographs at the BEA Autographing Area.

There are three book and author breakfasts. The Adult Book & Author Breakfast on Tuesday, June 6th, is a special panel moderated by Stephen Colbert with speakers Barbara Kingsolver, Jo Nesbo, and Junot Diaz.

The Children’s Book & Author Breakfast, on June 6th, is moderated by Glee star and author of The Land of Stories, Chris Colfer, with speakers John Green (The Fault in Our Stars), Lois Lowry (Son), and Kadir Nelson (I Have A Dream). On Thursday, June 7th, the final breakfast includes Michael Chabon, and others.

A Conversation with Neil Young and Patti Smith which takes place on June 6th at noon, is a discussion between the two music legends on Young’s new memoir, Waging Heavy Peace.

The Digital Discovery Zone (or D2Z) is a special area for publishers and software companies embracing the new world of tablet based digital publishing. Exhibitors include:

The Author Stages are where you can sit in on informative, revealing discussions with authors and leading industry spokespeople who will talk about books, history, politics, or pressing industry concerns.

The BEA is a densely backed event with leaders and innovators in the publishing world. It is definitely a must-go-to event for anyone from avid readers to people looking to enter the publishing world to the most experienced professionals whether they be authors or editors.

Besides the general Book Expo, the BlogWorld & New Media Expo NY happens simultaneously and is an industry-wide tradeshow, conference, and media event within BEA  dedicated to promoting the dynamic industry of new media that is open to anyone with admission to BEA.

Preceeding the actual opening of the BEA, there are several other book-related conferences on June 3rd and 4th.
