The 30th American Film Market (AFM) is taking place November 2 - 9, 2AFM-picture011 at Loews Santa Monica Beach Hotel, the Fairmont and Le Merigot Hotels in Santa Monica, California.

AFM is a marketplace where the business of independent motion picture production and distribution culminates yearly, as more than 8,000 industry leaders converge for eight days of deal-making, screenings, conferences, premieres, networking and parties.

Games for Change and GDC is Looking for Submissions

 

gdc11 logoOn Tuesday, March 6 2012, Games for Change will be holding a new day-long Summit at the annual Game Developers Conference (GDC) in San Francisco. GDC is the longest running and world's largest professionals-only game industry event, drawing in over 19,000 attendees annually. Those interested in submitting content to our summit, Games for Change @ GDC, can do so by visiting the GDC Summits Call for Submission page. The deadline for submissions is Monday, October 31 2011 at 11:59pm ET.

Games for Change facilitates the creation and distribution of social impact games that serve as critical tools in humanitarian and educational efforts. Games for Change @ GDC represents, for the first time, an opportunity to bring together those funders, NGOs, government agencies and educators seeking to leverage entertainment and engagement for social good with leading game developers from the independent and commercial sector. Through case studies, roundtables, lectures and demos, Games for Change @ GDC will highlight models for collaboration on game design, bridging the gap between commercial and issue driven game development, distribution and publishing alternatives, and much more.

 

NY Comic Con 2011

The 6th annual New York Comic Con (NYCC) is taking place October 13 - 16, 2011 at thenycomic-poster Javits Convention Center in Manhattan, New York City.

Kicking off the festivities is a free evening of entertainment with DJ/artist Z-Trip.

"This is the first time that we have kicked off New York Comic-Con with an official evening of entertainment and I know that we will have a packed house," notes Lance Fensterman, Group Vice President for ReedPOP and Show Manager for NYCC.

This year for the first time, Marvel Studios is appearing at NYCC and will present a special event. With a high-profile panel, Marvel will debut never-before-seen footage from the upcoming feature film Marvel'sThe Avengers, directed by Joss Whedon and starring Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner and Samuel L. Jackson.
