Ah, the warmer months; when a young person’s fancy turns to love of film fests. Running every weekend from May 10, 2013 to August 18, the Rooftop Films 17^th Annual Summer Series at the Open Road Rooftop (350 Grand St, NYC) combines a pleasant and casual atmosphere with some unique new films.

Films being shown include:

• Crystal Fairy
  Starring Michael Cera and  winner of the Sundance Film Festival’s award for Best Director Award in World Cinema.
   
• Brasslands
  A documentary that will also feature a live performances by four Balkan brass bands, recreating the experience of the massive Serbian music festival that the film documents.
   
• The Kings of Summer
  Starring Nick Offerman and Megan Mullally.
   
• Drinking Buddies
  Directed by Rooftop alum Joe Swanberg and starring Anna Kendrick and Olivia Wilde.

The Rooftop Films fest also help aspiring directors through the crowd-funded Rooftop Filmmakers’ Fund, which helps aspiring filmmakers get their projects complete and screened at the festival.

The Rooftop Films Summer Series is sure to offer some great films with a unique and charming venue.
