VINO 2015 Brings a Taste of Italy to the Waldorf

It’s winter, the weather is dreadful, you’re too cold to venture outside, and your stomach is grumbling. What do you do to get your mind off the crummy weather while also whetting your pallet? VINO 2015 at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel (301 Park Avenue, New York, NY), February 1 - 4, 2015, brings you to Italy and the taste of fine wines while Mother Nature rampages outside.

With wine tasting seminars for people looking to get acquainted with fine Italian drinks, and networking for people in the liquor and restaurant industries,  it is a great chance for learning a culinary art to impress your next date. Take part in wine tastings and meet-and-greets and expand your knowledge of winery at panel discussions and seminars. Now in it's fourth edition, VINO is the wine event of New York.

PAX East 2015 Brings Buttons & Boards Back to Boston

PAX East, the Massachusetts based offshoot of the PAX Prime video game convention in Seattle (and new Texas iteration that happened last week) returns to the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center (BCEC) at 415 Summer Street, Boston, MA on March 6 – 8, 2015. The PAX conventions have enjoyed quite a bit of success for their celebration of gaming (that includes video, board, arcade, card, and RPG type) and bringing the general public closer to new and upcoming titles without having to jump through the hurdles of getting into an event like E3. PAX’s Indie Showcase, for games developed by smaller, more indie centric studios that reinvent, reinvigorate, or just plain experiment with what gaming can do, has also made the show a stand-out event.

PAX began in 2004, with the East version having its premiere in 2010. Last year’s PAX East showed titles like Duet, a visually simplistic yet striking music and rhythm game, Framed, a noir-ish puzzle adventure game, and The Spookening, a Tim Burton-esque “scare ‘em up” where you must shock a village of simple townsfolk.

PAX East also has panels discussing everything from the history of laserdisc based video games to the representation of minorities in games. The PAX Cookie Brigade sells baked goods in the name of charities to weary con-goers in need of some sugar. A showroom of arcade machines from the 70’s and 80’s makes for a weird mish-mash of dingy arcade with party from a bygone era.

With PAX East 2015 closing in, announcements of guests and events will be coming soon.
