The DigiDay Conference - Internet Week 2012

This year's week long series of major digital conferences taking place during Internet Week 2012 in NYC kicks off with The DigiDay Conference for high-level decision makers in publishers, agencies and brands. Taking place on May 14th, 2012, at the W Hotel in New York, the conference tackles key issues such as:

  • Second and third screen extensions to TV and digital video
  • Brands point of view on the effectiveness and integrity of old media vs new media

  • The future of media

The conference breaks away from the now commonplace format of panels and is instead made up of fewer panels and more one-on-one fireside chats -- essentially interviews with and by key online media industry practitioners and thought leaders.

In addition, there will be presentation pitches by leading innovative online media vendors. Among the practitioners speaking at DigiDay will be:

  • Wenda Harris Millard of MediaLink
  • David Smith of MediaSmith
  • Mario Diez of Quadrant One
  • Bob Lord of Razorfish
  • Andrew Essex of Drogo5
  • Joshua Karpf of PepsiCo
  • Russell Wallach of Livenation Network

The conference also offers an ideal opportunity to start off Internet Week -- esepcially if you go to this set of conferences, talks, displays etc., as an ideal opportunity for networking with peers and thought leaders as well as other practitioners in and out of the various digital spaces. It's a great way to further your career in online media and digital marketing.

Ad Age Digital Conference 2012

Now in its sixth year, AdAge's Digital Conference 2012 is one of the important must attend conferences on the digital marketing calendar. Taking place at the Metropolitan Pavilion in NYC April 17th and 18th, 2012.

2012 is a critical year for digital media.

The spectacular $1 billion acquisition of Instagram by Facebook clearly makes the statement that Facebook is serious about mobile media. This year has also also seen an IPO being staged for the leading independent mobile ad network Millennial Media.

Perhaps this is the year of at least mobile advertising -- and that is one of the themes to be explored at the Ad Age Digital.

Privacy and PII laws are front and center with the roll out of legislation in Europe and the FTC suggesting that if the digital industry fails to respoonsibily police itself then the FTC will intrdouce consumer online privacy protection legislation.

Video is also very much on the minds of the media and advertising industry. The hope is that video will be the route to digital riches and turn offline ad dollars into online brand ad dollars.

2012 is also becoming the year of branded social media platforms like Tumblr, Twitter, YouTube, Pinterest even WordPress, and yes the big one Facebook. And while we are talking about Social Media and TV so a new topic and digital category has arrived with high expectations for the future in the form of SocialTV, is SocialTV the perfect brand play combining the media giant of TV with the brand marketing upstart of social media.

And then there is data. Data has become the manta of Digital of late, it is all about data, analytics, insights.

There are many other topics that will no doubt be discussed at this years Ad Age Digital conference including

  • Local DIgital
  • Geotargerting
  • emerging trends
  • emerging issues and challenges
  • who will be buying who
  • who will take the lead in digital space
  • how the Google vs Facebook and Apple battle will pan out

The cast of speakers and panelists is of the highest quality and at the cutting edge of digital advertising including

  • Jason Kilar of Hulu
  • Daniel Ek of Spotify
  • David Karp of Tumblr
  • Seth Farbman, Global CEO of GAP

It is a must attend conference for digital marketers on and off Madison Avenue who want to keep up with what is happening across the ever growing spectrum of digital and where they can hear and join the debate and conversation about not only Digital but the Future of Advertising.
